  Aphranova was established in 2015. Regular core members are Angelique van Os (vocals / sax), Tony Hoyting (keys), Arthur Buitelaar (bass) and Ancel Klooster (drums and percussion). The band brings a mix of jazzy pop with a funky fusion edge and sometimes breathes Norwegian folk atmospheres, but also shows uptempo drum and bass grooves.
  
  Debut album
  On the debut album, entitled The Crossing, elements such as identity, perspective and connection form a common thread. As a travel journalist, front woman Angelique van Os was inspired by the power of nature, the emptiness, vast landscapes and tranquility during various trips.
  The debut album with pieces like The Crossing, Almost There, Intuition, The Mirror of Life, guilty pleasure Never Alone and Your Story are also about the search for a human connection. And with The Willing Mistress, they honor the strong-willed woman Aphra Behn (1640-1689), who was one of the first independent free-thinking writers, playwrights and poets from British literature.
  The fantastic Red Limo String Quartet plays three parts on the album (Kyteman, Eddie Vedder, Wende Snijders, etc.). The Norwegian tenor saxophonist and goat horn player Karl Seglem can also be heard on two songs.
